Day 4: Mistle Toad Concept Art

So, since I brought up the possibility of a Toad Patrol fan video game with my group, I did some concept art for fun.

I imagined Mistle Toad as a youngster having pretty interesting mannerisms: playful and easy-going, curious and determined...

I also imagined his cloak being looser, and him being easily distracted by the wonders of the Great Forest, which makes him prone to ripping his sleeves, sometimes clean off as shown here.

He discovers the gem atop his staff after a romp through an isolated cavern with markings on the wall, then witnesses a group of Ancients for the first time but loses them. Despite his determination to discover them, others have never heard of or seen the Ancients before. Still, Mistle Toad becomes determined to find out what they're about, even going as far as making a wooden staff much like the ones they carry. Eventually, he discovers the power to hear the Thunder Trees; some are born with it, but some can discover Ancient relics which can bring out the ability in those it's not native to. Unfortunately, relics are only temporary, and the Thunder Trees refuse to reveal the whereabouts of the Ancients leaving it up to Mistle Toad to discover them himself.
